ARRC secures EPBC approval for Stapylton precinct

ARRC Gold Coast has secured the final major environmental approval needed to begin work at our Stapylton precinct.

The Australian Government has approved the proposed action at the site under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999.

ARRC CEO Grant Gabriel said the decision allows for the commencement of preliminary site works, marking a significant milestone for the organisation.

“We welcome the Australian Government’s approval and are looking forward to beginning work at the site as we build the Gold Coast’s resource recovery future,” he said.

“I want to thank the Council of the City of Gold Coast and the City’s staff for their ongoing and continued support with the development of the ARRC Precinct and our Chief Scientist Dr Jemma Purandare, whose leadership and dedication over the past five years have been central to reaching this milestone.”

As part of the approval, ARRC Gold Coast has long-term responsibility for an environmental offset that is located near the Pimpama River at Norwell.

The environmental offset is carefully planned, strategically located and will be actively managed by City of Gold Coast to ensure it provides real and lasting benefits to the city's environment.

ARRC is committed to meeting the conditions and requirements of state and federal environmental approvals.

Further information about site works and project timing will be provided as relevant procurement and delivery arrangements are finalised.
