Listening to local voices

Be part of the conversation shaping the future of waste on the Gold Coast

The ARRC Community Reference Group (CRG) brings together local residents, businesses and community representatives to take part in open, two‑way conversations about the Advanced Resource Recovery Centre (ARRC).

The group helps ensure local perspectives, questions and concerns are heard and considered as the project continues through planning and delivery.

This is one of several ways the community can get involved in ARRC, alongside pop‑ups, events and online engagement.

The Community Reference Group is an advisory group, not a decision‑making body.

It provides a structured way for local community members to:

  • learn more about the ARRC project and how it is progressing
  • ask questions and take part in open, transparent discussions
  • share local knowledge, concerns and ideas
  • provide feedback on project communications, construction impacts and community engagement

The CRG supports ongoing dialogue between ARRC and the community as the project evolves.

The CRG brings together a mix of local voices, including:

  • nearby residents
  • local businesses
  • community services and organisations
  • people with environmental or local area knowledge

Members live, work or have strong connections to the Stapylton, Ormeau, Beenleigh and surrounding areas. ARRC seeks a diverse range of perspectives, life experiences and community connections.

While the CRG does not make decisions, members provide input into areas such as:

  • project communications and how information is shared
  • construction impacts, including traffic, noise and dust
  • environmental considerations
  • engagement and ideas for the proposed Community Education Centre (ARRC Hub)

Feedback from the group helps inform how ARRC plans, communicates and responds to community needs over time.

  • The CRG runs over a 12‑month period
  • Members attend up to four in‑person meetings
  • Meetings are held locally in the Stapylton / Ormeau area
  • Members receive clear information, project updates and support throughout the program

Participation is voluntary. ARRC recognises the time and effort involved and provides support to enable people to take part.

Meet our members

The ARRC Community Reference Group (CRG) brings together a diverse range of local stakeholders to provide input and feedback on the project. Members represent a cross‑section of the community, including residents, local businesses, industry representatives and community organisations. Each member contributes their perspectives, knowledge and experience to help inform project planning and decision-making.
